About Sabrina L. Williams

Although I was born in the UK, I moved to the Canary Islands, Spain at a young age and I haven't looked back. The Canaries is a fantastic place to live, I mean you can do all types of outdoor activities practically all year round because of the great weather. Horses are my poison but the islands are also a superb spot for water sports so they do attract a lot of attention from people around the world. Anyway, enough about that. Back in 2011, I made one of the biggest, scariest yet best decisions I'd ever made and set-up my own business in the middle of a recession. I love what I do as no two days are the same, plus Spanish law keeps me on my toes as it is constantly changing (often without warning!) so there is always something new to learn. As I've branched out in the world of Administrative Consultancy, I decided to create a blog to discuss topics of interest to others in my industry and my clients, share tips and experiences, to see what new ideas people have for improving their businesses and the like so I hope you'll find the time to join me on this venture...

So you’ve checked out the competition and determined who your target clients are (local or virtual), so the next few tasks require action on your part. It’s time to put your money where your mouth is and get this show on the road so to speak! Success or failure depend on your next steps and many who have tried to make it as virtual assistants found that this was the part that let them down as they were not prepared enough.

We’ve already discussed the value of Administrative Consultants and who may require these services but it is of vital importance you take a deeper look at the key issues affecting the market, your competition (and how to beat them!) and who will be your clients.

To all those who follow this blog, it has been a while since I last posted so I apologize for that. In Spain where I live, it has been hectic since May, what with personal tax returns, corporate taxes, annual accounts and the such due. Aside from that I’ve had exams, exams and more exams so I’ve had to study, study, study…!!! But as today has been a little calmer, I thought it was about time I put “pen to paper” and posted the next article in the “Planning Is Key ” series so I hope you enjoy it…

We’ve covered the services you plan on offering your clients so the next obvious step is to choose your company name. In Biblical times parents would choose their baby’s name based on the qualities they wished him to have or the purpose he was to have in life. The underlying meaning would remain with the baby for the rest of his life. The name you finally choose for your business should also reflect the business’ mission statement or purpose (think about the services you offer or your product). Aside from that, the name should be easy for your clients to remember.

This is an interesting question now you’ve given the AC route considerable thought. Throughout this series of articles you would have noticed that I constantly say, “if this is the right route for you” and now is where you have to be brutally honest with yourself  and list your skills, your strong-points and your weaknesses to give you an idea about the direction in which you wish to go with your business. There are many things to mull over like offering a broad spectrum of services or sticking to two or three services and creating a niche for yourself in the virtual world.
